Ignitions tumbler headache.

Basically, I got a massive headache, a hole burned in my pocket with nothing but a long ass story to tell and a lesson freakin learned! My keys starting jammin about a month and a half ago, what does someone do when they have a problem, research! so I turn to the internet, I work at a body shop so an automobile, isnt exactly foreign to me. After trying to take the tumbler out ourselves, I ended up calling a couple locksmiths, ending up with nothing but a broken key in the ignition.(not exactly to blame entirely on the locksmith) Had to tow the car back to the shop after having locksmith friends once again come look at it, with no luck. Ended up grinding an drilling out the ignition tumbler, my boss who owns the shop I work for, had this happen to him with the same model, this was a last resort, I just didnt know what else to do!

In the end, all the had to be done was to drop the steering wheel column, so you can have access to the top of the black collar, on the back side of the black collar, there is an internal lock ring that has spring tension, on the top side of the collar there is a slot cut out for access to this ring, simply take a tool, supress the ring inside, an twist the collar to the right position an it should slide right off. Once you have this ring off, you can now slide pins into the holes with the key in position '1' and slide the tumbler out. Everywhere I looked, all the genius specialized locksmiths, all the freaking forums no where was this mentioned, all I got was "you just stick the pins in, jiggle it around and it all just comes off" no luck, hopefully this post will help some of you save a couple headaches, and the depression of having to walk by your beautiful benz every morning into the loaner car, cause this stupid ****ing problem! dont be like me, dont let a 40 dollar problem turn into a 250 dollar problem!
