I'm not going any deeper than the B3 disks....
Just need to order the 4 disks and a few more seals and she is going back in! From there I will need to fiddle with the modulator to get it back to where it should be. To be honest I thought the internals up to the B3 was going to be more fiddly...It really wasn't at all. There wasn't even any bolts or anything. Just one pin and everything came out in order with help from a magnetic tool!

Just major leaks getting worse and worse. I am leaving puddles, no longer drips after a day or two.
Otherwise no other issues...Not even a hint at the B3 problems, so I probably caught it right before any signs.

Got my new B3 disks from Phil today Very fast shipping!
Now, anybody have information on replacing the rear main seal? I cannot seem to find anything on it in the FSM. Some people said that it should not be touched because it can cause more leaks and that seal can last 200k+ miles, but others say it needs to be.

Took the front pump off today....Was a little tricky due to those ton of springs I took a picture of in the very first post.
The main pump seal was rock solid, had a crack in it and just fell into pieces in my hand. It was definitely toast. Same with the metal brown seal that the shaft goes through... My question -- There was these two "lip seals" as the FSM calls them...Anybody know the part #'s for them by any chance?

^ Ah that PDF showed it. It is 338 and 339. That's them because it has a "lip" on them. Now how to figure out the PN# ...I see this one fastlane, but the picture isn't clear enough...it "looks" like the larger 339 one, but I'm not sure. http://catalog.peachparts.com/ShopByVehicle.epc?q=&yearid=1988@@1988&makeid=63@@MERCEDES+BENZ@@X&modelid=6240%3AMBC|1521%3AED|10000013@@300TE&catid=241185@@Transmission&subcatid=241329@@AT+Seal&applicationid=W0133-1635331&mode=PA Either way for these seals I don't want to buy online as the shipping will slaughter me. If I can figure out the PN's I can just go to the dealer. EDIT: hold up, hold up...Why does that PDF show (5) B3 Disks??? Does the 722.4 maybe use 5? I am just double checking there isn't a big problem here!

Dual PDF
That Blow up of parts covers BOTH 722.3 and 722.4.
When in doubt , go with what you've pulled out of the case... Unless it's self destructed (Like C-4) Discs and clutches cannot Vanish. [The Damn thing is ALL these pictograms make sense ,when you've got the parts in hand (Maybe) ]

Thanks and yes it looks like it.
That is weird though, when I look up my 300TE, there is no option on the EPC for interior transmission parts. (I did this before so thought maybe they didn't have it in general) I just tried my 87 260E like you said, and it gives me the options for internals. Odd!? Looks like my PN's are: 123-272-0192 and 123-272-0292. Beautiful. Thanks! The gasket around the pump is a nightmare A razorblade won't touch the leftovers from it. Any tips on how to remove the leftovers? I have 95% of it scraped away, but the residual junk is being as stubborn as can be.

Pre-Cambian (Or older)
Permatex Gasket Remover #80646
UPC # 6 86266 80646 8 "Easily removes all gaskets" The Can has been sitting in my garage for at least 8 years ("Rattle Can") 'Suggests rinsing affected part with water after removal process. I've used it with great success on water pump gaskets, over the years. ['Turns Gaskets to slimy goo ,which can be scraped off with a plastic spatula] 'Would you want to apply it with a Q-tip (to limit exposure) ???

I searched everywhere for a gasket remover product and had no luck at all...
To remedy the issue I used some Goo-Gone (only touched it slightly), wiped off, 180grit then 1200 wet + dry. It got 98% of it off. Good enough... Looks like I also need some non-hardening sealant for the pump bolts Soon as I pick up the lip seals tomorrow along with the non-hardening sealant, she gets wrapped up and ready to go back in! Can't wait

Shoot the part was wrong
It's different...I guess the 260E and 300TE inner lip seal is different. The outer was good though. I managed to spot the part # on the inside lip of the old seal...its the smallest writing I have ever seen in my life on the most noticeable section It's actually 126 272 0092.
