89 300ce issues with central locking device
 

hi,the drivers door will unlock and lock with a key,but it will not control the central locking system,the passengers side door is what i have to use to get all the locks to lock and unlock,but it does not unlock or lock the drivers side door,my owners manual states i can control the central locking system via both doors.also the interior dome light does not turn on when the door opens and closes,i tested all the switch positions on the dome light,they all operate correctly,there is 2 black plastic plungers on drivers side door jam,they both push in and out,if i press the top one in i hear a solenoid clicking,the bottom does nothing,im wondering if there is an issue that links both problems.the dome light inop,and the central locking system not functioning from drivers door.thanks

Most likely issue is inside of the left front door.
The vacuum actuator that controls the central locking is most likely the issue.

Start there & check that vacuum/electrical actuator.

i will do so, i assume i need to remove the door panel first? i used to work for general motors ,these cars are much different as you know,any hints as to where the major plastic clips or screws are located?so i dont break any.
