2004 SL600 performance problem - check engine light on dashboard

Hi there,

I have just received my car back from repairs after a faultly power steering problems now resolved.

As I was driving back on the motorway I noticed the [Engine Light] on the dashboard lit up (check engine). I also noticed as I would hold down on the pedal after 60mph, expecting the frightening acceleration on the v12, the car does not respond and accelerates up much more slower. I dont feel that surge of torque.

At 80mph the car judders. When I do eventually slow down (e.g a at a junction), the car vibrates lightly. When I intend to move off from 0mph, it feels like Ive moved off directly from 4th gear - therefore the engine feels weakened.

However, when I switch off the engine & restart the car, I am able to get back the fast acceleration when I move off from 0mph. However when I hold the acceleration down after 60mph it doesnt respond with the incredible torque, and instead I am accelerating as if Im driving another car.

Some advice would be helpful. Also would like to know why the Engine Light on my dash does not disappear.

Many thanks

With 3-4 computers involved...you need a system scan to provide a diagnostic path.
