Broken swaybar bracket 400E
So I was out on th highway the other night comming home from a party 3am and hit a dip/rough spot on the road and heard a, OH NO SOMETHING JUST snapped NOISE!!! slowed down and thought maybe I just ran over something on th road? Got off the highway and relized something was wrong! Ball joint maybe, tie rod? Checked it out yesterday all looked good under the car, even PS leak has stopped after I tighted the return hose!!! Then pulled the front wheels and got the pry bar out to investagate. Surprising eveything looked played but seemed in good working order? So my friend was there and he was giving me a hand and said look it this!!! AHH HAA the inner right sway bar bracket broke clean in half right at the top bolt that holds the bushing in place!!! So bad noise, easy fix and wile I'm in there I'll guess I'll do the bushings too! Also noticed front wheel bearings were shot!

Very common on W124's.
They are cheap ($25 dealership or $16 aftermarket). The replacements are thicker steel. Factory bushings I'm told are teflon-linned. I'm using aftermarket as they were very cheap. M |
