Driver seat replacement.

I would like to replace the driver's seat in my 87
300d, as I have worn a hole in the mb-tex cover on
the side of the seatback nearest the driver's door. (I'm sure I'm not alone here).
I've been keeping my eyes open for a replacement seat at local junkyards, ebay, and other establishments, but I haven't found one that's been acceptable. However, I HAVE noticed that the passenger seats are generally in much better shape than their corresponding driver's seat.
Therefore, my question is: Has anyone replaced their driver's seat with a passenger seat of like model? I did feel the side of my passenger seat seatback, and it feels like there is a hole in the frame where an armrest(from a driver's seat) could be affixed.

Does this make sense or am I crazy?
Thanks.
