2000 C230 fan clutch R/R
Does anyone know if there are special tools needed to R/R the fan clutch on an M111 kompressor engine? I've done this on my old 300E, and it needed the holding bar, but I'm not sure what the case is for the M111.
Thanks! Anthony |

Just thought I would update this post with my experience just changing out my fan clutch today.
Tools needed: 36mm slim fan clutch wrench (universal size for a number of different cars, including Ford, Chevy, Chrysler) Water pump pulley holder (I got the one from Fastlane) 6 or 8mm (I forget which) allen wrench Procedure is pretty straightforward, takes about 10 minutes once you figure it out: 1. Place pulley holder over the bolts on the pulley. The MB tool just sits over the bolt heads, no need to unscrew anything. 2. Unscrew the fan clutch bolt in a CLOCKWISE direction. 3. Swap the fan onto the new fan clutch. 4. Bolt on the clutch in a COUNTERCLOCKWISE direction. That's it! |
