ASR phantom

We have been chasing a phantom ASR problem for almost a year. The car is a federal 1993 300CE. It goes into "limp home" only at low speed, only once when cold, and usually doesn't repeat for 4-6 days. There is no ASR lamp lit but the ASR circuit is alive and well because I can brake the rear end loose and get the light.
We have replaced all of the usual suspects. I sent the ETA out to BBA Remanufacturing for rebuild. I am fairly OK with their work but they will recheck it if necessary.
Before I pull it again I need some wiring diagram help. We replaced an obscure micro switch on the pedal linkage under the dash. When you back off on the gas pedal the switch opens. When you accelerate the switch makes. Can anyone tell me what circuit this completes? My indie does not have the current wiring diagram for this car.
The reason I ask, is that my limp home problem only occurs with the switch open upon deceleration.
Thanks,
Anziani
