I posted under another thread and I believe I may have misread some items so I am posting a new thread. I have also searched and cant seem to find a thread for my issue, so if its out there, my apologies.

Here goes.

#1 Wife drove through flooded roadway, have no idea of speed.

Gets to school to pick up children and following happens:

#1 Shuts off car and radio turns off.
#2 Tries to lower windows and they wont lower
#3 Turns on car radio will not turn on, windows will not operate.
#4 Air only seems to blow through defrost vents now.
#5 Seats will not function with car running.
#6 none of the switches on center console work, i.e. mirrors windows

The sunroof will open as long as the car is not running using the sunroof switch.

The windows will go fully down or up with the key in the ignition, but this also has the oposite effect on the sunroof i.e. windows up sunroof open.

Is there a power source directly to the center console???

is the radio not working a coinsedence? its aftermarket

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Since I'm posting again thought I would ask if I do have to buy a comfort control module, I saw them used on ebay but am confused as one was priced for $49 the other $150 and both had same part number of 2028200926 There was one difference on another number on the part though which is 5072020 for the $49 and 5072021 for the $150. Dont know what this number is, but it is stamped under the part number on the part.

It is under the rear seat, so water intrusion is possible...

There have been several version of that unit. ALL of the early ones were a 124-820-32-26.

So this box provides electricity to the individual switches on the center console?

Is there a way to test it?

Man, that's a pretty wild set of symptoms. It's hard to wrap my head around 1 thing that could cause all of that.

Perhaps some of those symptoms existed prior to this incident, but they are just now getting noticed because of the other issues and the testing you've done? Just throwing that out there before we get obsessed with the idea that all these issues are tied to a single failure, which is possible, but seems far fetched. I just want to prepare you for the likelihood that more than one thing needs to be replaced

As far as testing that module, the first step would be to remove it and see if in fact water did intrude into it or not. Was the carpet wet? Secondly, you'll want to open the thing up and check all the input pins for busted solder joints where the pins meet the circuit board. This is an all too typical problem with that vintage of MB cars. If soldering and circuit boards isn't your thing, then perhaps somebody you know is?

I know this sounds rather obvious, so forgive me for asking - have you checked all the fuses? As many have noted, old German style fuses can look just fine but not work due to corroded ends. Spinning them in their sockets is a quick workaround, but really they should all be replaced every few years. They're cheap if you buy them in bulk.

Okay - Am I reading this correctly: When you roll up the window, the sunroof opens by itself? That does sort of sound like a waterlogged comfort module, but the carpets would have been soaked!

More investigation is needed. Find out if that thing got wet or not. Pull it out and open it up and see what you find. It's not too terribly hard.
