2002 S class Wiring Harness wicking oil

Car went in to dealership for a check engine light. Also had been signalling an ABC warning that the front suspension was too low. Was also a quart low on oil but showed no overt signs of leaking and oil change had recently been performed.

The news from the shop is that wiring harness insulation had been wicking oil from O2 sensor. Compromised components include coil packs, control module, O2 sensors.

Innocently spoke to Phil last week ( I am always impressed with his ability to spend a few moments with his customers and genuinely listen to their concerns) after experiencing a misfire and CEL believing it was likely just a coil pack. All the spark plugs and driver's side coil pack had been recently replaced and the misfire was indicated on cylinders 7, 8 and 9. Regrettably, it appears to be much more involved.

The Dealer has made this situation very easy on my weak heart thus far and as I have an existing factory warranty that is still valid they have offered to replace the harness and any related components that would have suffered damage.

Can any member with some experience tell me if there is a reliable remedy to this pernicious malady? Was this a common problem with these vehicles? Additionally any information regarding systems that might have been compromised in addition to those listed above would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any replies. Cheers, WGC
