Mercedes 230CE
Hello,
I have a grey market '85 230CE. It has the same motor as an '84 190e. In my travels the other cay, the car started to sputter and stop. It has since refused to start. I'm getting spark. I also disconnected the fuel line going into the fuel distributor and when the key is turned fuel is dispersed. ( I figure the fuel relay works if these conditions occur). However, when I crack any line leading from the fuel dist. to the injectors there seems to be no fuel. This should be under pressure correct? I'm wondering if this sounds like my fuel pressure regulator. How can it be checked?? Any suggestions? A new fuel filter and fuel pump were installed last year. Thanks for your insight. You should check the fuel on the return line as the system needs about 80psi(5.2bar) to operate properly.
Also many times on this engine the idle hose comes loose from the bottom of the intake manifold, creates a very large vacuum leak!!
