Speedometer

I have a question about the speedometer in my 1987 300TDT.

The speedometer works but the odometer and trip meter do not. The numbers are mis-alighed and the trip meter shows all 0s. Cgances are someone wanted to reset it when the car was moving.

What is the best way to deal with this? Buy a new/used one or send it in for repair.
