Need way more info. When was last tune up? What was replaced? is it a 1991 or a 2001 I didnt know they made any E(number) cars untill 1994 it was the other way around. And 500E's started in 1992 as far as i know unless it like an SEL or something. Where do you get your fuel?

No E500s in 1991, 500Es started in 1991 outside the U.S. That part number is not a good U.S. part - so it must be for some other market. But it's not a good number for an E-Gas control unit anywhere. So we do need more information. Do you know what the part does, or where it's located?

The car is registered as a 1991, I bought it 6 months ago so I am really sorry that I have no enough knowledge but I’ll try my best to provide all the information I can to run this beast perfectly. I think it was originally from Japan. The VIN # is (1240361B450176) and we are using 95 octane The E gas is located at the left upper side (passenger side) My mechanic told me that I have a problem with my E- Gas; I have looked at every Mercedes parts shop for that particular number and couldn’t find it. It’s like they have never seen a 124 - E500 in there entire life He replaced my E Gas with a (124 545 44 32) number and its running like a 6 cylinder engine acceleration. And the car was tuned up as well Thanks & regards |

That is an E-gas control module. 44 32 is the wrong part for your car, it is for later cars, those after B840529. Your car is a B450176 so it should have part number 124 545 26 32. There is no 124 545 86 32 for a 500E - could be a misread or from another car. You may be able to send it to the U.S. to be rebuilt. But the 44 32 you are now using is just the wrong part.

...500Es began production in 1990 with 40-something units. His car seems to be face-lifted to the optical changes that began in 1993. I doubt his mechanic will be able to get the correct part for this euro-model if he's is using a US dealer...unless he provides the proof of it being legally registered in the USA. |

The correct part - 26 32 isn't even a U.S. part.

Thanks all.
So I should be looking for 124 545 26 32 somewhere in Europe, is there any alternative because all the available where I live is the one's starts with 140. I’ve been told that it might affect the cruise control which I won’t be using or I would let go for having more power. Regards, |

Just as a matter of reference, I bought an E Gas module for my former 1994 E500 which was part number 124 545 45 32. It cost $1258.

The EPC is normally pretty good about listing interchangeable parts but shows nothing interchangeable with 124 545 26 32, which of course is not to say that nothing else would work, just that they don't consider it truly interchangeable.
