Need help with 1988 300E Blower Motor
 

Hello, I recent undertook replacing my blower motor. After a bit of work removing the squirrel fans and putting them onto the new motor I find out that the regulator is out. I do not have the money to buy a new one, and am thinking about making a voltage regulator that is separate from the rest of the car. I can use any help, such as how many volts for the blower motor to run on high, low, med, or the best way to do this. I've been thinking it over, but I'm not yet sure of exactly how I should.

Where is the regulator situated, I have a 230E w124 1991(euro), and my problem is that my blower fan will only operate on setting 3 and 4(high speed) and stays of on setting 1 and 2.

thius means the blower motor is working but the regulator not?

The regulator/fan plug is to the inside of the master cylinder.

You can supply voltage to the plug to test the regulator/fan. get a copy of the manual to determine which wires do what...

Yes what he said. You sure its the regulator? did you check the strip fuse? I take it you bench tested the old motor before you took it apart? if not it probably still works and you can send the new one back and get your money to put into the regulator.

yes, I tested everything. The brushes on the old blower was out, and there were a few other problems so I went ahead and ordered a new one, but got the old one working for a little while as I waited for the new blower motor. By the time it came in the motor had stopped working again, i bench tested it once more and it doesn't work. Then I removed the squirrel fans and put them on the new motor, and put it in and nothing. Checked the fuses ect. Checked the regulator it is bad.
What I was thinking about doing is wiring it to an auxiliary fuse and running it off of something else. Granted something that won't blow the fuse because now it's running the blower motor too.

The CHEAP way to do this would have been to find just the BRUSHES and replaced them and gotten a new regulator.

The brushes had already been replaced in the old motor. The regulator is the expensive piece.

Doing it yourself? Buy a used regulator, they are pretty robust if the blower is in good condition.

Where are you? I have a couple of used ones in Michigan, if you're not in a hurry.

Ive got a good used one off a 94 e320, should be the same

I live in Oklahoma. Not in much of a hurry now since the tailpipe came out of the muffler and I have to get that fixed kinda soon.
Right now it's help up by a wire, it's pretty sad.
