Does anyone know if the SLK has a timing belt that needs to be changed or a timing chain?

What does it cost to replace the timing chain on a 2001 Mercedes SLK320?

When is it due? at 60k miles?

Thinking of buying one. Would really appreciate the answer to these.

maybe at 180,000 if you don't maintain it correctly....

You replace a timing chain according to the amount of stretch, not the mileage. When the chain has stretched beyond the maximum allowable degrees specified for that engine, it should be replaced.
