Diving with O2 Sensor not working

My O2 sensor is triggering the CEL and I don't know what will happen if I just drive the car with the sensor not working. It is a 300 SE 1990. Thanks for any help!

you can technically, the car will just revert to 'ideal circumstances' model for the ECU, youll get worse mileage and potentially damage your catalytic though.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

But I think some of those early models had a light that came on at a certain mileage for the O2 sensor. It was no real reflection on the condition of the sensor.

As said above, the car will probably run fine but mileage will suffer.

maybe in late model cars thats true, but these cars really only throw that light when they cant sense mixture correctly anymore. Im betting its actually the 02.

good thing: they are really cheap for these cars.

They are? Where are you getting them, because I can't find a genuine one for under $150, and the generic is at least $80
