Door lock tumbler jammed

89 300E

Recently changed the window regulator, but now the drivers door lock won't turn with the key. Goes in nicely, but no turning at all... not one mm in any direction. Tried the other door and trunk and all seems well.

Suggestions of what to do or if someone has a write up on how to remove the tumbler from the door handle.

Read someone suggested a vacuum issue, but can't see the hose in the lock area.

Thanks.

No lockee

Are you saying the "Push Down/Pull Up" button will not move ?
(As well as the actual locking mechanism refuses to release?)

The driver's door has three parts to the "Lock"
1.The mechanical Lock (And linkages).
2.An Electric Micro-Switch.
(How the "lock" communicates with the Vacuum Pump under the Rear [Right] Seat and the Convenience Control System)
3. A Vacuum Actuator.
(That Locks/Unlocks the door @ Vacuum Pump's command)

These are the Pertinent Sections of S.M.:

Unfortunately, another case where all the info needed is scattered all over the S.M. . If at all.

Here's the whole "Shooting Match":

[I "Think" (so infrequently,it hurts) you've just got a "Mechanical" (Rod) connection loose.]

I think it is either #1 or #2. I am trying out #1 first.

72-240 is what I tried just a few moments ago. The key would not budge enough to take the key tumbler out.

will have to read up on 72-250 before I tackle it... better get a beer or two out... looks like my window regulator job's grease will end up all over me.

The system was absolutely normal a week ago... the car sat while I was working on the door panel since it was removed and now this crazyness.

Anyone chime in on a vacuum check value? I disonnected the hose coming out of the locking mech (no noise), and nothing changed.. Is there a different location I should be looking for this check valve?

Anyone know where the vacuum check valve is located under the hood? Trying to do the easier thing first before I tackle he removal of the lock assembly.

I've shot brake cleaner, wd40, various oils trying to take the sludge out of the tumbler. No joy yet.

I now have the entire lock assembly out. The tumbler is still inside the rear portion of the door handle. It does not look that gummed up, but something is amiss inside. I see pins installed to hold it together, they cannot be pressed out as they are rolled pins inserted without a hole on the other side.

How to take it apart further?

Far Beyond my experience

I'd be taking it to a Master Locksmith.

I took the assembly to a local Merc shop and asked who they recommended. He suggested a locksmith down the road,it has been in his shop a day and a half. They checked if a Mercedes kit was available, and they will look into it. They mentioned something about a four slot lock...
