has anyone fixed a coolent lack to the radetor?

i have a 1984 DT 300 with a radetor lack, it has a over flow that goes to it, the part that goes to the raditor has been broke off, tried jb weld stops it alot but still looses water, has anyone tried to drilling a gigger hole and putting something elese in it place to get water to the engine, hate to have to buy raditor to fix this problem. also oil cooler top hose is striped any ideals how to fix, or should i get new oil cooler? anyone with ideals would help. thanks mark in ohio:mad::rolleyes::confused::confused::confused:

Replace the radiator because if the plastic nipple to the overflow broke off the side plastic is the same material and will fail soon also.

This photo was taken from another post, but it worked for me. I forgot what you call the fitting, but I used a plastic one. Got it at the hardware store. Drill hole slightly smaller than fitting. Bead with JB Weld, screw in.

The best way to fix a damaged or leaking radiator is with a shiny new one.

I tried that and again I will tell you it will crack or leak somewhere else. Its on its way out. You think you saving money but youll be wasting money you could have just spent on a new radiator.

Don't get a second hand unit either - this is false economy. Get a new one.

My radiator was in decent shape but I broke that nipple off because I had the air filter box out and I leaned on the overflow hose. I had a teflon threaded fitting just the right diameter for the overflow hose to slide on. Just tapped a hole where the nipple broke off and screwed in the teflon fitting wrapped with 1 ˝ turns of teflon tape the plumbers use and it's not leaked since. Probably somewhere near 5 years now. Do a search. I remember member “icefire” did the same thing using a brass fitting I believe.

Well I dont know how his broke but the end of mine sheared off showing the plastics age (same plastic on the side of the radiator) and from the constant heat and pressure I am trying to warn you from creating more issues just get a new one.
