questions on a w126 500sel grey i saw at my local j-yard...
hello,
so i went to my local junk yard and noticed a 126 with euro head lights. i noticed a few other things that made me take a look at the vin. and confirmed that it was a euro. whos euro it was, ill share later... my questions... 1. ive read that the euro and pre 86 w126 bumpers are the same. is this correct? because even though the front bumper appeared the same from afar, up close it looked a bit smaller then the pre 86's. 2. there was some sort of diaphragm or valve that sat on top of the drivers side exhaust manifold, it had a yellow cap. what was it? 3. the exhaust system all together tripped me out. i saw the car yesterday and havent stopped wondering about it since... the drivers side exhaust manifold appeared normal. after that it dropped straight under the firewall, bent straight back, went under the cross member that the tranny sits on and under the transmission pan where it then met with the passengers side down pipe and im assuming to the cat converter that had been installed... is that normal? 4. last, besides the head lights and wipers (which i grabbed), is there anything else i should be wanting to take from it? thanks.. ohhhh.... i also took a drivers seat fire extinguisher o.e.m. i never new those even existed. it was made by becker and has was stamped with a mercedes logo and part #. :) |
I saw a W126 Euro for sale locally, and wondered if it was a true euro, but it just had headlights swapped. Anyways, here is what I found, (not my pics).
