E300 into a 190E?
 

Where I'm from, 190E engines are very rare. I've been able to source a E300 engine for a good price.

The E300 is a diesel so i know there's a little more work involved to convert. Is it possible to put a E300 engine into a 2.0L 190e, is it a difficult swap?

It depends on what models and what model years you are talking about. When you speak of a E300, I think of my 1986 W124 with the 3.0 liter gasoline six in it. You have to be more specific, give us model numbers and year of manufacturer.

Putting a six into a 4cylinder 201 can be done but it's a lot of work. pain and expense.

Putting a 3.0 M103 or M104 into a W201 2.6 is a much easier job.

If you can find someone wqith a 190e 2.6, park your car along side and compare engine bays.

You will need the engine, engine mount parts from a 190E 2.6, wiring harness for a 190E 2.6, engine ECU for a 190e 2.6, radiator and associated cooling parts (they are unique on a W201 with a 6 cylinder vs 4 cylinder, there is essentially zero clearance between the fan and radiator even with the special radiator in the 6 cylinder W201), and the ignition module for the 6 cylinder. Really only reasonable if you have a donor car or a DEEP wallet.

E300 mean OM606 if I am not mistaken.

Not trying to knock you testieburger but just from your posts you don't strike me as big tech guy. To be honest you need a LOT of knowhow to swap a gas to diesel.

Testie, nobody but NOBODY swaps a normally aspirated 3.0 liter OM606 six cylinder diesel engine into a 190E. It would be stepping backward. OM606s are way heavy, and slow. Furthermore you would basically have to take the entire car apart and rebuild it with OM606 infrastructure. You had better be a wealthy individual, wherever you're from.

Unless you do the work yourself, and I mean ALL of it, 17 year old MBs are just as expensive and more frustrating than new ones. They'll literally nickle and dime you to death, then they'll rip you off some more for good measure. If you're having trouble with your M102 and you aren't the wrenching type I would recommend letting it go.
