Greetings All,
So my 1989 560SEL has developed a sunroof issue and I need to fix it before I put the car up for sale. It takes two to three tries to get it to close properly. I've search in forum with key word "sunroof" and didn't find any useable help. If anyone has and idea or knows where I can get some info please post. Thanks!!

Lots of writeups at Benzworld.org. I was going to do the maintenance on my 560's sunroof, and did some research.
What you want to make sure is that you don't break it. Typically from what I've read you need to remove the roof, clean the rails, grease them with Mercedes's sunroof grease (very important, it's an expensive grease, but is has special moisture-handling properties), and replace the plastic sliders. It's recommended that you buy a special tool from Mercedes - the sunroof pliers. They look like vice-grips with a huge hook that goes into the rear view mirror mount and clamps the sunroof shut so you can correctly screw it back in. I heard about three or four years ago the tool was around $40. I haven't gotten to do mine yet, but as I said, I found pictorials and all that on the other site. Good luck!
