1999 E320 4matic - Larger wheels ok?

Hello all,

Picking up a '99 E320 4matic wagon. Car has good original wheels, but I have a beautiful set of non-staggered 18" AMG monoblocks in the garage. If I fit these to the car, is the 4matic system going to care? I know exactly "zero" about the system, other than it currently works fine on this car!

Thanks!
Klaus

I believe the 4-matic will not be happy with a different tire circumference front to rear.

Not sure

18 inch might be too big, depending on tire sidewall height. As long as all 4 wheels and tires are the same size, 4Matic will be fine. The bigger thing to look for is if it hits the fender well when turning or if it hits the steering/strut post.

Thanks for the replies! The wheels are the same all around. Had these on my '97 E300 for several years with no clearance problems, so sounds like it's good to go! Living in the south, didn't really care for having all the extra 4matic stuff for the inch of snow we get each year. But hey, the better half loves the car so I'll just figure it out when it breaks !
