Vacuum pod?? 1990 190E 2.6

what is the name of the thing behind the glove box with all thr green and red vacuum tubes running to it? I have heard that this piece can leak or something to that effect. I was able to pull it out to the open without disconnecting anything, but which tube do i check for a vacuum leak because air is constantly blowing out of my side vents and defroster....even when i shut the air off and i drive i can still feel the air coming out...and its HOT air. i think this may help rectify my constant a/c issues, plus i will need to recharge my system. answers? suggestuions? comments? recommendations? Thanks guys

That's the switchover valve. Earlier models had 2 and the later ones have 1.
You probably have a defective defroster pod and are losing vacuum to the water valve.

Hey slk230, thanks for the intel, i fixed the a/c. it was the heater valve......even though i just replaced it 11/5/09. I only did a quick fix and taped both ends so no coolant could get through and i reattached it.
