1994 E 320 Wagon - Window Won't Close The Last Inch

Has anyone had this on a 124 (1994 E320 wagon)? One of the rear window goes up and down fine but will not close the last inch. The motor works smoothly up and down but stops an inch before it closes the window. The glass moves smoothly with no pop and grind like a broken or dirty guide. Any help much appreciated.

You might try pushing and holding the button in the "half way" position. This is how my car works. It sets the end of travel sensor. If that doesn't work it may need some lube.

There is a kink in the cable.

It's likely the top bracket next to the bottom of the window is broken. After it breaks it pivots so that the window operates normally but leaves an inch gap. You may need to replace the assembly even if the motor is good.

If you are handy, you can find a good used cable/frame assembly and transfer the motor. It's a little tricky because you have to get the motor cable positioned correctly. The sedan rear assembly may work as it's very close but the motor orientation may have some interference.

I don't know what it was, but the window has magically fixed itself and now opens and fully closes properly.

I was just about to remove the panel and dig in to diagnose.

Thank you all for your good juju.
