Just one more stupid question. '91 420SEL. So whats the deal with an engine driven mechanical fan and two electrics? Do these little V-8's really run that hot? Or, is this an example of an over engineered Teutonic synergestic hybrid cooling system? Radiator not big enough? Could one delete the mechanical fan for economy / power savings?

The 4.2 v8 runs extreamly HOT, they eat the wire harness they run so hot! I had a bad coolent temp sensor and my aux fans would not kick on and my 92 400E was over heating! so i just installed a cool harness, upgrade which I found on here, search cool harness on here. makes a big difference!
