Seat Spring Repair

so, my dad's SD got "newer" seats, the old green ones were rapidly decaying and had no support in them once so ever. Extremely uncomfortable.

However the newer driver's seat had three broken springs in it which made it list to the left heavily. So to fix this someone suggested welding the springs. Alas, I dont have a welder or the skills so I tried something else:

1/8" Gas Lines and Elbows.

Seem to help quite a bit. The seat is much more comfortable.

thoughts? comments?

That's the most hilarious yet ingenious thing I've ever seen.

1/8" copper tubing is what I used on mine. It fits tight over the spring and even though it's not strong as steel mine has held fine for a few months now.

I remember reading a post where it was done with 1/8 inch steel brake line.

I just went to Pick N Pull and found good springs from passenger side. One a 123 both seats use the same springs.

I can't wait to try it.
I see you also found the pool noodles beneficial.

Yes, the pool noodles were helpful. However I dont think they'll hold up too long.

I think a more proper way to do this is like I did my Gold SD's seats four years ago. They're nice and firm, very comfortable.
