Pagid vs. ATE
Any reason I should care which brand front pads I get for a 1997 E420?
Fastlane offers both, moderate price difference. Also, what about ATE vs. Zimmerman for the front discs? |
Jurid was the original brake pad compound on the E420, but now you would get Pagid 548 at the Dealer.
ATE supplies brake rotors made in Italy & Zimmerman are German. |
Pagid vs. ATE
I recently changed from Pagid to ATE Teves pads on my 300E. The only difference that I see so far (<1K miles) is the pedel effort seems a little higher and I have heard a slight squeel twice, both times during the first stop on a very cold day (-9 and 4 degrees). They seem OK otherwise. I also put in the standard ATE rotors.

What about dust?
Thanks! |
Pagid Vs ATE
I haven't had them in long enough to see if there is any difference with teh dust. I have been driving in snow and muck since installing them so I could not tell anyway. If the temp gets above freezing for a few days I might wash the car then I can assess the difference if any. Comments here in the forum seemed to indicate that there was not much difference.

My Car has ATE Calipers, so I opted for ATE discs and pads to match.
No harm I figure, and I will let you know as soon as I put them on. Alon |
I put ATE Powerdisc`s on mine, they do seem better than the oem.
Less money too! John |
