Coolant hose

89 300 TE I need to replace the 2" hose between the pump and the engine block. Do I need to remove the pump or can I slide the hose between the pump and the block? Please tell me I can slide it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks

The proper way of replacing the short hose is to remove the water pump ... while you're at it may as well install a remanufactured water pump purchased from your local MB dealer.

Some DIY'ers have shortened the stub piece protruding from the engine block and force the new hose into position, but I don't endorse that method.

I recommend doing a little of both. Shorten the coolant hose slightly then soak it in boiling water for about 15minutes to soften it up. Then try and work it on as best you can. Otherwise pump will need to come off.
