Power window part?

The part pictured below broke (please click on the link). It connects the window to the regulator cable on the rear driver side door. Can I order just this part or do I have to buy the whole power window reguator?
Thanks,
John

That link seems to go to your email service or something similar. It requires a login and password, which I'm sure that you shouldn't be giving out here.

What car does this fit?

I don't know if that part is available. I fixed one on my 210.

Well, Fastlane lists a "guide jaw" for the rear regulator, but the picture in the catalog looks not like yours.

I would suggest giving them a call, or pm whunter with the URL for this thread.

Thanks for your help.

I believe that's from a rear window regulator. I have not seen the broken part on the right available separately but the plastic part on the bottom can be purchased at **********. It has a pin that must be pressed flat.

I had the pivot part on the right break as well and had to replace the complete assembly. You can reuse the motor but need to install the wire correctly.

I took out the regulator and removed the rest of the broken part. The entire part, broken in two pieces, is pictured below (both front and back are pictured). Does anyone know where I can get one of these? All the websites seem to have the wrong part listed as the replacement for it.
Thanks,
John

Have you called Roy yet?

Why don't you subscribe and look at the illustrated parts breakdowns provided by Mercedes EPC?

You've had 5 replies and it's been 5 days and you still have no answer. And, you can find out definitively for yourself and learn a new resource at the same time. Don't hold out any hope for "aftermarket."

Power Window Part?

Thanks Guys,
I spoke with someone at Peachparts, but we couldn't find a guide jaw that looked like my part. I just subscribed to Mercedes EPC, so hopefully I can find the part there.
John
PS- Sorry for the delayed response, I was on vacation and couldn't get to a computer.

Matt L 07-20-2010 07:41 PM

No problem with the delay. But please keep us posted on what you find. You're not the only person who would like one of these.

I was able to repair mine, but that's certainly not going to always be the case.

my experience has been the same as Matt L...ie on a 210. so I dont know if
this is applicable for your model. it sure comes darn close.

for the 210, I know, there is no known a la carte replacement. as close as
you can get is an assembled part for something else. then separate them by
drilling out the large pin. go to your broken part....and drill to separate. now
swap out the damaged part with new and rivet together.

the part costs about $10. the labor is about an hour. depending on the time I
have, I may simply opt to replace the whole regulator arm for <$50.

as i understand, in your situation, it's the gray part...the one in which both ends
of the cable are secured, right?

Power Window Part?

Thanks Raymond,
I've never installed a rivet before. I have the exact pieces (original & replacement) pictured in your diagram, but I've never worked with rivets before. Once I drill out the existing rivet, what kind of rivet would I use to replace it? I spoke with one body shop that was very helpful but the guy told me that it couldn't be done because it was a "special rivet." Bear in mind that I don't need the repair to be 100% perfect as I could save anywhere from $130 to $300 if I don't have to buy a used or new window regulator.
