oil change

Daughter has 2006 CLK350 bought last thanksgiving, about 48,000 miles. We have ben wating for the msg that an oil change is due. She only drives less that 4 miles to & from work, so with the short hop driving, we think a 6 month oil change is necessary. What should we do ?
