transmission flaring.. oh e!

So the cabriolet's transmission started flaring today. No signs showed before today. The only change to the car has been the wheels and other than that its been fine.

the roads here in CT are complete crap compared to the winter free roads in CT. Could a spring have broken in the valve body or something along those lines. The filter for the transmission will be due when I get home next week

All shifts, or only some shifts?? From standstill? After changing oil and filter without solving the problem you can adjust the modulating pressure on the side of the box, this will affect all gears and take off. If it is just 2-3 upshift, a spring kit has been known to resolve the issue in mine at least on a 722.503 box, kit no A1262704477. I think it will work for a 4 speed Cabbie box too.

Could you please post which version of the 722 tranny you have installed? Should be something like 722.3XX.

Thanks

on that trans it is poss that the little filter screen in the secondary valve body is mostly stopped up with old dead clutch material.this restricts the fluid flowing to the govenor.
