Getting a 1992 500sl out of park
 

I rolled this car into it's current spot last week after trailering it.
Now, it won't come out of park.

The battery is in place and probably dead. But I thought it was dead last week too.

What are my options, how do I get this car rolling again?

If it's shifter bushings just get under the car and wiggle the linkage around a bit.

It's not a high milage car. It was working happily last weekend; I doubt it's the shifter, but stranger things have happened this week.

Does the car need a good battery to get out of park?

No, the 1992 model has a cable to the right side of the shifter from the brake pedal.

Either needs adjustment(stretched) or is damaged.
