Are W124 Outside Temp Gauges LCD's interchangable?

Here is a pic of my current gauge...As you can see, the LCD has leaked.

I have another Temp Gauge, but it is from a later model I found at the junkyard and the housing is physically different along with the pinouts. I swapped the LCD's over, but the bottom pic shows the results. Is that incompatibility or just a bad LCD?

Any thoughts? Thanks guys

Looks like incompatability, a similar effect happens when an LCD from a C module is used in place of an LCD from an F module. The circuitry for the LCD's segments are laid out differently so you get wacky display things happening.

There is a slight chance that the elastomeric "Zebra" conductive connectors are not perfectly situated between the LCD and the modules electronics as that will sometimes cause a similar effect, but if you where clean and careful with your assembly I'd bet on LCD incompatability. Good Luck!

If you PM your address, I'll send you one. It's the 5 pins in a row, correct?

No unfortunately not the 5 pin. It is 4 pin square. You can see in the 2nd pic. Kinda hard to find.

How much do you want for the 5-pin?

You can simply change your vehicles wiring loom's plastic connector shell to a 5 pin style and use the 5 Pin module, takes a minute or two!

If you decide you need a different module I have both 4 and five pin modules available for $30 shipped USPS Priority you can have one in 2-3 days. additional modules are $25 each, I've got 126 modules also.

The 5 pin connector shell is MB # 013 545 32 28, virtually every 124 car and 201 cars have a power distribution block on the driver's side, left hand side foot well behind the plastic trim, there will be at least two or three circuits that connect there which use this 5 pin inline connector shell. So if you have access to any 210 or 124 parts car that's where you can get this connector shell easily.
