1990 190E 117,000miles. The transmission will not go into overdrive, dont know it its a transmission problem or shift linkage, what could be the main culprits?

190's dont have overdrive. They have a four speed transmission. Generally 65-70mph will land around 3000-3500rpm.

if you mean that it won't change into 4th gear then that is most likely to do with the valve body and accumulation of dirt.suggest that you drain pan and remove from tranny and have a look.

Yes this is the info I have:It is a 4 speed auto and it turns over 4000 going 60, it will only go into 3rd
