Water Temp Sensor 4 Pin Connector config?

Hey Guys, I put on a new Water temp sensor on my 91 300E. Fits fine but I;m not sure how to configure the pins on top of it with the connector. The Sensor just has 4 pins and are not numbered like the sensor cap. How do I know if this things on right? And what is that ticking noise that comes and goes from the back of the engine near the firewall? It's not always there. Thanks for your help again! If I get this thing running right, it's getting a paint job, tinted windows, and stero system baby!!! Oh, and some new seat covers after I pad the old ones up. Everything else works on this baby.

From memory it does not matter which way you hook it back up.

Interesting because it has a flat side on the connector and numbers on on the connector pin but no flat side on the temp senser and no numbers. Well, I jist stuck it on to wear it seemed to fit best. Hope it's right:o

Thanks a lot!!!

Agree, it doesn't matter. That component consists of 2 identical sensors (negative temp coefficient thermisters). Each sensor comprises a pair of diagonal pins consisting of a signal pin and a ground pin, one pair providing signal to the EZL control unit and one pair sending signal to the KE control unit.

Thanks for the help. I will not worry about it then. It's a new Temp Sensor so I thought I had missed how the original was put on but it seems to work fine.
