420 SEC general question
 

I am usually on the diesel board. Since picking up my first MB a month ago, I have started to notice them more often.

On my street, sitting lonely in the back of a driveway, is a 420 SEC. I don't know what the year is or anything about it. I did a quick search on it, Wikipedia states that there were only 3,680 built? Is this correct? Is this a car I should be trying to get my hands on?

I was curious about this car thinking it may need some work and I can fix it up and sell it. If it is worth something (and the owner does not know this) I could make some serious profit???

It's a euro car and they were made in very small numbers because people either bought the 500SEC or 560SEC.

I doubt that you'll make 'serious' profit from one but who knows. W126's are not collectible and the faster,sexier and more luxurious model is the 560SEC which is readily available.

oh well. Thought I would ask.

A really good, late SEC is worth more than many SL's. The production numbers are much lower.

Like the others said, you wouldn't likely turn much of a profit on it, but they're fine cars to own for the joy of driving them!

As my signature shows, diesels and gassers can coexist in the stable. :D
