Need Some Help - Buying Car on Ebay

I recently totaled my CLK500 and bought a M5 on ebay. I have never bought a car on the internet and am a bit skeptical that this guy might be trying to rip me off. He sounds too good to be true below is his latest email. His name is Gordon Wilson but when I spoke to him over the phone he had a very thick accent. Here is the email he sent me:

Quote:

Hi Bobby,

We just spoke on the phone.
I bought the car almost 2 years ago from a individual seller. The vehicle has 24950 miles. The car is in excellent condition, no damages or scratches, no paintwork or body work, non smoker. Tires are new. There is no lien on the car. The title is clear and I'm the 3rd owner. The car is currently only under extended BMW warranty until 2012 or 50K miles. The car runs and drives excellent.
As I said I want to use Escrow to make a safe transaction because Escrow is recommended by Ebay. Check their link to see:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/pay/escrow.html
I will deliver the car to your place and give you 5-7 days for inspection. I will pay the shipping cost and the escrow fees. If you don't want to buy the car after inspection period ends then I will find other buyer in your area and you will have no obligation regarding anything. If you want me to set up the transaction with Escrow then send me an email or give me a call.

Thank you,
Gordon
The car VIN is WBSNB935X6B581878... Can anyone help me with a car fax or something? I just don't feel comfortable. Here is the auction listing:

It's a scam that's been going around for a while. The seller is new and has zero feedback. He'll send you a link to a bogus escrow site and clean your credit card out. Cancel the transaction quick! Also, I live very close to Dumfries, tell him you have a forum buddy that you want to have check the car out for you. That should shut him down!

Update: just checked the report on this car and it's registered in Loudoun County, which is were I live. Dumfries is in Prince William County, about 15 miles south. Also, the phone number posted leads to a management company in Leesburg, VA which is in Loudoun County. http://www.emiroglumanagement.com/

I'll be glad to meet him at the management company and check it out for you.

I'd feel weird about the car being an '06 with THREE prior owners???

It's a Nigerian scam. Never buy a car off the internet without being able to go see it first. They do the same thing through Craigslist. It's always located somewhere far away and he will ship it to you to check it out but only if you put some money in a certain account that you'll never see again. ask yourself, who in their right mind would sell a car that nice like this? Nobody!

Take powerpig up on his offer! Then you know for sure if he is scamming if he will not meet or is "out of the country right now"....

I've tried buying a couple of these cars, both times when I told them that I have a friend nearby, they told me that "the car is already crated for shipping and won't be able to be viewed". Who crates a car for domestic shipping, ... further calls were not returned in both cases.

Start with a bluff that you have a brother / friend who lives in the area and would like to inspect the car, see where it goes.

Always ask for a fax of the title and also the registration or an email attachment showing both documents. This action will cut down the risks. Also if ou are offered the car thru a 3rd party, it will be a scam. You are welcome.

Here is another flag on the field:

Results for 'WBSNB935X6B581878' on 50 State database(s) Searched by VIN
(0) Registrations Results in Insurex

Also the dumpster in the background of a picture - ACK or RCK - nobody permited by that in Loudon or Fairfax County.

The seller gowilson62510 just registerd with ebay on 8/28/10 What is the 62510 a zip code? That is IL zip

The seller says I will deliver the car to your place and give you 5-7 days for inspection
I have bought plenty of cars on EBAY - never has anyone offered up that.
