But I'm pretty sure the wipers on the headlights of my 300E worked when the regular wiper was engaged...

I've heard that in Europe the roads can be a mess and many cars of the time had wipers on the lights as a safety issue...I'm sure muddy headlights create a safety hazard...

In America...I'd assume most of the roads MBs travel on are well paved and not exactly wrought with soil and such...so they might seem unnecessary...

But during the winter they seemed to come in handy to keep the ice and snow from adhering to the lights while I drove...the boxy and slightly inset seeming nature of the lights on the 300E really facilitated snow/ice build-up

I always thought the wipers were cool...but I really liked the heated fluid reservoir...

I got the blades for mine out of the trash bin at the local McParts store. Only specific ones fit, it's best to take the old blade with you to compare. Nothing on the shelves was close.

For my headlamp wiper blade replacements, I simply use an old windshield wiper blade, cut to size. You're not looking through that glass and I have found they are quite good enough for that purpose, even in a used state.

88 300CE. Other 124's use probably the same part.

Speaking of which, I ordered a set of replacement inserts and can't figure how to remove the old ones? :confused::o Tips anyone?

I survived a 5 level cervical fusion 4/2004. (C4,5,6,7,T1) 10 screws, 2 rods and 0 pain.:eek::)

I'll attest to the worth of the wipers. Just the ticket on a long drive thru PA. I think they add mud to the salt for "patina".
On another note do any of you have a weeping washer nozzle? My left front will drain the res in about three weeks and leaves a blue residue on the bumper. Is there a one way valvle in the system?

When I checked they were almost $20 each. I wasn't going to pay $20 for a 4" wiper blade.

Oh nooo....I didn't have that serious of a back surgery. Just a degenerative disk issue that caused serious lower back pain and made my right leg numb and non functioning. It is getting better quickly. I just have to be careful.

Anyway, what is the easiest way to remove and repalce these headlight wiper motors? Anyone done this?

They are attached to the bottom of the headlight assembly. Take them out together. As I recall 8mm bolts hold them all together.

I've had two MBs with wash wipe and now two with wash only, a 2001 C320 and now a 2008 C300 (both with Bi-Xenon) and the wipers are definitely superior to just the high pressure spray which also gets all over the front of the car.

The cars with wash/wipe give two swipes each time the windshield washer is used (with at least parking lights on) but the W204 C300 sprays the headlights only every tenth time the windshield washer is used, again with lights on.. Saves a considerable amount of fluid.

i can see why the amazing german engineers installed wipers on the headlight,they only work at night while the lights are on and the wiper spray cleaner is used,it may have cleaned them off a bit from fog or dirt,but in my honest opinion,i think they are the most ridiculous thing the germans added to there cars,its a bit over the edge,in mny opinion,plus its more stuff to have to fix,right now the right motor on my 89 300ce is burnt out,sometimes the spray nozzles drip a bit,when snow and ice builds up there just plain useless,however the washer fluid is heated,and the lines appear to have a heated element in them.its also funny how the drivers door mirror is manual,and the pass is electric.

I agree on the passenger power mirror thing. How odd to have one powered and one not.

Anyway, has anyone with leaky spray fluid tried running some CLR through the system? I wonder if its just build up that is causing the leaks.

Just replace the check valve and the leak will be solved. Mark
