W126 Valve Cover Gaskets

How does one replace the driver side? Do I have to remove the fuel distributor? Recently I took the cover off enough to inspect the chain guides. But the AC lines that go to the dist were in the way to take the cover full out. So not sure if there is an easier method to this one.

Just keep farting with it, they come out. I pulled mine on the 560 to check stuff out and found out I had new chain with guides... I was not sure if the plastic oil sprayer bar retainers were replaced, so I did those.

Torque is low, do not over torque or you will end up with an oil leak and a vac leak.

I already have a small oil leak and they are pretty cracked up, hence the need for me to remove and replace them.

LandYaghtLover,
The 2 lines that are in the way are fuel lines. The one that goes to the a/c hose is the return line. That thing in the a/c hose that it hooks to is a fuel cooler.
Disconnect the 2 fuel lines from the fuel dist. If I remember correctly, use 2 17 mm wrenches, one to hold the adaptor in the fuel dist and the other to remove the hose. Remove the plug wires and lay them out of the way and the cover will come right off. When you replace the valve cover gaskets, get the copper washers that go on the valve cover bolts.
Good luck.
Paul

Ya, I noticed that there were only a couple washer remaining. I will get some new ones. And thanks for the input
