Instrument cluster panel
I had to remove my instrument cluster to repair the odometer gear that had slipped off the shaft. For some reason my oil pressure and tachometer are no longer functioning after I put the cluster back in. The pressure gauge is sitting at zero whereas the tachometer seems to sit between 1000-2000 rpm while driving no matter what the speed may be and at only around 500 rpm while idling. All the connectors are seated snugly to the panel. Is there something obvious that may have been missed?

Did you try taking it back off and re-cleaning all of the contacts, twisting wires and pushing back in. Drive with it hanging out and to where you can get your hand in there and wiggle the wires to see if you see anything happen. Shouldn't have had anything happen unless you disturbed an errosion problem that was barely making a connection or hanging on by it's fingernails.

It is quite puzzling that they could go dead. I'm quite positive that all the connectors are snug and not loose. Oddly enough, tonight I noticed that the cruise control is no longer working. Something makes me think that these two things are related some how. I wonder if the cruise control is dependent on a RPM signal?

Check all of your fuses. I just had this happen with my door locks and another fuse had blown unrelated to them that was causing the symptom in another area but when i replaced it....fixed! Let me know what you find.
