Chassis Number
1 Attachment(s)
Did a search and cannot find the info I need related to the chassis number of my car. Attached is a less than perfect photo of the plate located by the radiator in my 300D. Can anyone decode this and tell me what the chassis number is? Seems like they frequently want the number when ordering parts. Thanks!

123.130
A 300D from 1977 - 1981? |
Chassis Number
I know it's a 123.130, but that's not the number I referring to. For example, FastLane lists motor mounts for a 1981 300D (617.912 engine) as follows:
Chassis Range 108309- and -12-108309 What do the two numbers mean and where do I find out what "range" my car fits into? Thanks again! |
And the engine I believe is a 101.639

Chassis Number
Huh?

123 = chassis number
123.130 = specific model of 123 123.130 12 = specific model of 123 with auto tranny and LHD (left hand drive) Not sure on the next part - it was so much easier with the old style VIN's, but... 101639 the individual vehicle number(??), or range ie: <108309 or >108309 Means there was a part change or modification at individual number 108309. If the last part is wrong, someone will step in to correct. EDIT- Just went out and compared the VIN to the data plate, to see if the last 6 of the VIN appear on the data plate, doesn't appear so. That 108309 cut off number, should as Alon states, refer to the last 6 of your VIN, or possibly the last six of the engine number. |
Fast Lane is referring to your VIN Number. Either ont he windshield pillar, or on your vehicle registration it should be there.
Should begin with WDB or somethign along those lines. The plate you showed a picture of coontains the vehicle options and items like paint color, upolstyery color etc etc. Alon |
I was bored so I found out the following on your plate:
1981 W123 Believe built at Bremen plant Anthracite Grey 4 speed automatic automatice antenna w/radio installation bumper guards and heat insulating glass with band filter with a couple of codes I cannot locate the info for. OK, I can go to sleep now ;). |
