Hello,
Anyone have a write on replacing valve stem seals? Looking for anyone who has replaced them without pulling the head.
thanks

you don't have to pull the head....but you need a compressor to keep the valves up...

i know there is a write up...... i used it to do mine.....

i was never able to do the cylinder closest to the firewall... but i did do the job on two
103's

It is a band-aid fix at best if you already have leaking guides. A rebuilt head at a competent shop should run $250-350 and similar in parts for a new gasket, bolts, misc.

i had real good results doing my 103's ....one with 200k went from a quart every 500 miles to about a quart every 16-1800... i later got rid of the car for other reasons but the engine was strong.

I tried it on my M103, total waste of my time.

Both my M103s great success. 260E used to use 1 quart every 200mi....now maybe 1/4 at best quart every 5k.

My wagon before I redid the head went from 1 quart every 500mi to 1 quart every 5k.
