107 Spring Compressor
 

Will this work for a 107 chassis? It doesn't mention the 107...

In a word, no.
I tried to use exactly the same compressor, the center rod is too thick to fit up through the hole in the bottom spring carrier. I ended up creating my own center rod and used the plates from this kit but I wouldn't recommend anyone else tries it.

That's what I was afraid of - do these plates fit the 107 spring? Anyone have any ideas on manufacturing a plate..of some sort? I can get a 3/4" all thread and some nuts and washers - per another thread - but I am having some difficulty in figuring out the plate...

Chain/Bolt & Nut & Washer
 

I use a chain and a bolt, nut and 2 washers. Leave about 6 inces of slack in the chain for spring exspansion... works like a charm.. Jim

Yes these plates do fit the spring, with the suspension at full stretch you have to wind the plates to the highest and lowest points on the spring that you can to compress enough of it. These are very long springs. Stating the obvious, but if you're using a threaded bar with them then make sure the material will take the forces involved.
Once the plates and bar are in position use a jack to compress the suspension as much as possible and then tighten the nut to take the strain.
I maybe teaching you how to suck eggs but hate to think someone took my advice at face value and got hurt. I personally hate working on this area of the car.

That's the Klann-clone type and the plates fit neatly on the 107, front and rear springs, however as mentioned by other members the compressor will not fit through the LCA hole on the front springs but are perfect for the rear.

To use the compressor on the front springs you will need to insert it from the top spring perch on the subframe and to do this you need to drop the subframe on one side to allow acces.

The plates can also be used with a steel rod to secure the spring to LCA when servicing ball joints, bushes etc. It works a treat!

Just one point to consider is that these type of compressors come in several steel configuration and the grey steel contains higher proportion of carbon making it stronger than the one you show.
