What brand motor mounts for '95 E320?

Here are my choices priced for each including any shipping unless they are local:

CRP $62.24 local
Boge $61.76
Rein $54.69
Meyle $45.46
FEQ $35.55 local
URO $35.00
Westar $28.81 local

Anyone used FEQ or Westar before?

I would go with Meyle or Rein. Lemforder would be a quality brand also. Check that the engine mount matches the style mount in your 1995 E320. Stay away from URO which are inferior products made in China.

Sachs-Boge are OE. Definitely go with that. There no telling if the URO or cheaper brands even are hydraulic at all...

Stick with Sachs/Boge...the rest are cheap knock-off's

The store that sells the Westar is close by so I might just take a look at them first.

I got some Febi/Bilstein mounts.
How are they?

I put them on my wagon 2 years ago...Still look perfect. They would be my 2nd choice. I went with Sachs-Boge for my 260E when I got it.

Ps2cho, do any mounts isolate harshness better than other brands? Or do they all do more or less the same job?

My data shows the OEM part was CORTECO = it is a better isolator and will last longer in this application.

This is a case of you get what you pay for.

atikovi, doubt that you will be able to ascertain much from the appearance of any of these engine mounts. It's more a matter of durability which you won't know until after installation and use. As with most things, you get what you pay for.

They are hydraulic, so you are not just dealing with cheap quality rubber, but if the fluid leaks out early due to poor design, they will vibrate from there on out.

They fall to pieces....literally. This is how mine look after removal. I did not do this myself....

Guess I'll be the guinea pig for the Westars.

Spetz 11-24-2010 02:57 AM

Ps2cho, how does something like that happen?
If they were in pieces, wouldn't the engine literally lift off the mount during acceleration?

The weight of the engine is too much to have it lift off...The bolt holds it tight too.

I would assume the rubber cracked somewhere, the fluid leaked out and now there is an open gap for the rest of the rubber to flex, causing it to break over time.

It's really hard to say on the brands.. .I bet many of those ppl just buy from the OE and re-box them.

If it looks like the OE in the outward appearance, you may be fine. I didn't think they were much more from the dealer but it's been a few years since I've checked.

I got the Westar mounts installed. Car idles very smooth now. Box said made in China but I kinda figured it would be when a pair of them cost less than just one of the German brands. If I was putting it on a higher dollar car or a keeper, I would have bought the Lemforders. Anyway, they are a lot better than the old ones were and only time will tell how well they hold up, but that will be for the next owner to find out.
