CLK Exhaust Smell

I am taking my '06 CLK 500 for service and also to address a couple of issues. It has the AMG exhaust. One of the issues is a burning smell inside the car. Doesn't happen all of the time. Usually the smell is after I have accelerated and come to a stop shortly thereafter. No oil consumption issues or check engine lights. I only run it on premium gas, too. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Thanks,
Brian

I should also add that the smell inside the cabin is like heated ceramic.

Thanks,

Sounds normal to me.

Hard acceleration means a lot of fuel & the catalyst is working very hard to do it's job at that point.

RE: CLK Exhaust Smell

Thanks, M.B. Doc.

A couple follow-up questions. I read on another forum with someone who had a similar problem. They thought that maybe certain brands of gas had something to do with it or that a faulty oxygen sensor may prevent the catalytic converter from heating properly. Could any of these also be possible causes? Wouldn't a faulty oxygen sensor trigger a warning? Is there anything that I could add to my gasoline that is MB approved to help?

Best-
Brian

The brand of fuel can make a slight difference, due to the additive package used by that brand.
