Just to add to this.
I've been rebuilding cruise amps for about three years now and have done about 750 units with great success. My rebuilt price is, as of today, $70 plus shipping. If you need any help with diagnostics or anything please by all means feel free to post up, pm me, or anything. I'm happy to help and give back to the community. -Kris |

I would give "James Dean" a shot at this before I took the JY approach. Seems to me that there is someone down South that rebuilds these also. And what about BBA Remanufacturing in the Boston area?

Likely a amp version issue/ JamesDean- YES!
James gets my vote. I'm one of his satisfied customers. Excellent resource and service at a fair price with a warranty!
I tried a couple of salvage yard pulls and had the same results as the original poster, cruise would engage, but would quickly accelerate. So I bought one from JD. Ironically, I sent one of the amps that didn't work for me to my brother-in-law. While it didn't work for my 1990 300E it DID work for his 1988 300E. Must be a version issue. AL |
I also can shout out for James Dean. He does excellent work and is an extremely principled (honest) person.
