carb'd m117?

Just got a crazy idea, would it be possible to carb an m117 out of a '89 560sel?

I have the engine sitting down at my shop with the transmission on it and if i don't sell it soon then i want to use it in a w124 eventually. Was thinking of just doing a complete swap with electronics and everything but it would be pretty unique to have a carb'd m117. I know there would need to be some fabrication to the intake to adapt a carb and to the throttle body. There is lots of other stuff that would need to be changed too but let me know you thoughts on it.

Thanks!

carbs exist because they're cheap and easy, not because they're efficient or performance oriented. Why take a high end motor and give it a low end fuel source? -CTH

Exactly, although "easy" might not be the case here.

Would have to fabricate an intake manifold and get the jetting correct and of course if OP wanted as efficient running as originally it would mean one carb barrel per cylinder (and no mixing) , which means not cheap.

thanks for the response guys. wasn't really gonna do it just because of the added expense to fabricate everything but just thought it was kind of a funny idea.

I would rather put the effort into doing a centrifugal supercharger system of some kind :D

using carb u be lucky to get 6 MPG. FI does run it more efficient and save fuel.

Converting to electronic injection would be a much more worthwhile nightmare.

Quite...megasquirt would be a more worthwhile investment! More efficiency, more power.. all of the things we love:)
