Replacing Rear Shocks on '95 SL500: A Question??
I need to replace rear shocks on my '95 SL500. Where do I access the top of the rear shock mount? Is it behind the drivers seat, requiring the removal of the rear interior panels and Bose floor cover? OR are the shock tops located inside the trunk compartment? Can anyone help me out with that?? Thanks, Steve

Gus, although I've never worked on an SL500, based on other MB automobiles, I suspect you need to remove the trunk compartment liner panels on each side. Typically the side-to-side panel locks the side panels in place so you need to remove it first. Then release the side panels from the upper clips and twist/lift the panels out of the trunk. Once you do one side the other will be easier.

Accessing the top of the rear shock absorbers for removal.
Right you are, I removed the side and back trunk panels and there is an access hole on each side and in addition there is a larger back panel that is held in place by about 12 hex screws that can be removed to gain more access. Thanks, Steve
