Can the hood ornament (Star) be moved from one car to another?
 

I'm doing some body work after Mr. Deer kicked my hood.

With a new hood from the salvage yard, I now have two hoods. One hood with and one hood without the hood ornament.

Can the 1995 E-Class hood star be removed without breakage and installed on the replacement hood?

As long as the hood is the same, then sure.

Often the mechanism for releasing it from the grille/hood is corroded and falls apart when trying to remove it. It might be easier to just get a new one (~$30) Then its nice and shiny! :D

Yes but the '95 star only fits '94/'95 hoods and as Paul says, ... they're not expensive.
