Anyone using Deka AGM batteries?
 

I was looking around and found autobarn has free shipping right now.


$185 and it comes with a 6 year warrantee. I'm on the 9th year on Interestate but want a non-flooded battery.

Can't speak for the AGM - but I'm 62 months into a Deka maint free part # 749/93 ca=1050 cca=850.

I've used just about everything else and have never gotten this duration out of a battery in my 126 MB.

Your Interstate has done amazingly well - 9 years - wow!

I've been running a red-top Optima in my diesel, was very happy with the same in my Land Rover.

As to the DEKA AGM, I've put them in the motorhome with no issues but those are 8-D so a bit different.

I'm using a regular MBZ battery from the dealer.....got it 7/24/09, so not quite 2 years yet. Interesting to see how long it lasts me, I wouldn't mind trying out that AGM.

AGM's are sealed , higher CCA than traditional flooded batteries.


Optima's aren't what they use to be.. I'm not getting a long life like I use to with them. Now 3-4 years, so I'm looking elsewhere. The interstate has been solid for about 9 years!!
I ordered one so we'll see how it lasts. Go by a battery shop and sell them my old one..

I am using other Dekas with good results, though I once had to recharge after a month of no use on a stored car in winter. I don't think that counts as bad points

A friend turned me onto the Deka AGM batteries since he'd had such good experiences with them.

I had no issues with the one I had, up to the point where I sold the car. (not much of a historical sample though.)

They are typically more affordable than the Optima batteries for an equal or better specification battery.

i have just over 5 years on a dealer battery in my '87. it's starting to get tired and i am going to replace it in th next few weeks. the dealer batteries are made by Varta and they are excellent batteries but it seems like they have gone up in price a lot since i bought one. another choice for an AGM is a VW phaeton battery from the VW dealer. it's the same group number - 49 - as the MB diesel batteries and the VW batteries are also excellent quality. you can buy the phaeton AGM battery for less than the MB dealer flooded cell battery.

i don't know why this is but the european made batteries seem of better quality than the typical interstate or garden variety ones.

i have a deka AGM battery in my VW camper for the fridge. seems to work fine but can't comment on the life because it's only been two years since i've had it.
